CREATIONS
everything to do with your characters and their needs is right here.
To make a character, simply fill out the form within and post it in this board. A staff member will look it over and let you know if it's accepted, or if it still needs some work. When finished, it will be moved to the appropriate filing sub-board.
All accepted character applications will be moved here by staff and sorted into the appropriate sub-board. Please do not roleplay until your application has been accepted and moved here.
To keep you from getting overwhelmed with all those threads and plots, this board offers you a place to neatly order and store all your character's escapades without taking leave of your senses. I suggest making use of this, it's an incredibly handy tool.
This board is something like the Yellow Pages of WINGS. If you have a specific character needed for a mini-plot, or if you've lost muse for one of your own creations and want someone to take them over for you, post here and someone will fill your request ASAP.
Once your application has been accepted and all your affiars are in order to start at Weston Institute, make sure you stop by here to post your character's claims. Be sure to follow the directions and post everything in code!
All dead threads or retired character applications will be moved to the proper sub-board and kept as records. If ever a thread or application is moved here and you wish to retreave it, talk to a staff member and it will be returned to the proper board.
For the interactions your characters have that aren't face-to-face, this is the place to go. These can also be used as a type of record for your character.
WESTON INSTITUTE
everything that makes up the day-to-day lives of the students resides here on campus.
The first stop for new students and a frequent stop for trouble-makers, the front lobby has the institute's secretarial staff as well as the doors to the headmaster's and deputy headmaster's offices. The copy and fax machines are available to students with a teacher's permission.
The northern branch of Weston Institute faces the small wooded area that separates the institute's property from the rest of the town of Weston. A few rooms next to the nurse's office are typically used as storeage, unless the music classes need more space and use the empty rooms for rehersal. Or tests.
The east wing of the school is almost half entirely the WINGS library. A huge room that has two levels, the school's library has nearly everything you'll need from light reading to research material. The counselor's office is at the opposite end of the wing, and the middle is lined with english- and literature-related classes on one side, government on the other.
Near the center of the school is the cafeteria which is nearly as big as the library, but only one story. It borders the art room, math and foreign language classes, and more storeage. A side corridor leads to a stairway to the second story of the school where most of the restrooms are located, as well as the expired records room, which is kept under lock and key.
The south wing of Weston Institute has only one classroom - the required Elements 101 room, directly next to the teacher's lounge. Upstairs is the weight room and the school's gym, which is often used for its stage when students have free time or have an organized production to put on.
The outdoor portion of WINGS is where the students are most commonly found when the weather is nice and classes are out. Maintained by some of the school's most talented faculty, the grounds are kept nice and properly trimmed year-round. Other buildings such as the dormitories and the recreation building share the grounds with the institute.
WESTON, CONNECTICUT
with administrative permission, students are allowed to leave campus and spend time in town, so long as they're careful about what they do and say.
Small and well-kept, the city's park has a small play area for children, a pavillian with a consession stand, and benches lining a walking track visitors are welcome to use. There is plenty of room for a game of frizbee or a round of flag football, but if sitting and watching is more your style, that's fine too.
Every town has a gas station, and Weston is no different. The ZX station serves as not only a petrol stop, but also a miniature convienace store if you don't want to drive that far. Its shelves are stocked with nearly everything from food and snack items to a selection of handtools, liquer, and basic office supplies.
Linking WINGS to the town of Weston, the forested areas of town provide a nice, quiet getaway for Terras or other students who enjoy the outdoors. They're often overlooked by the townspeople, so there's not a big threat of the students being discovered - but better safe than sorry, right?
The nightlife around Weston can get pretty intense, or it can be quiet and peaceful - it all depends on what you choose to do with it. Whlie students aren't allowed off campus at night during the weeks, faculty and staff are exempt from this rule. Afterall, everyone needs a social life away from those crazy kids, right?
Need some new ink or another piercing? Madame Redbird's is open from 11 in the morning until 7 that evening, Monday through Saturday. She does some of the best work on the east coast and charges decent prices for it. If you're a regular, she'll give you a special discount - Madame Redbird does love her frequents.
Even though the school library has almost everything you could possibly think of, there are still some things the city library can do better. A three-story, Victorian-style building in the middle of Weston, the library is home to hundreds of thousands of books on every subject you can possibly think of. The librarians are strict but friendly and often give WINGS students a discount - afterall, they stock the school's library, too.
Not quite as big or useful as the Hartford Mall, the Weston Outlet Mall has a few stores students can spend some cash at. Most of the clothing stores also carry merchendise with the WINGS logo on it and are run by former students. Maybe you'll see someone you know!
Used for two weeks out of every year, the fairgrounds are the buzz of the state in the summer. Occasionally someone will rent out the ground and have a fundraiser or party, but it's super expensive and if any WINGS students are caught lurking around when they shouldn't be, it's big trouble.
Primarily the residential area in town, 24th street has the remnants of the commercial properties that used to overrun this section of town. It's the perfect place for the parents of students from out of state to stay if they want to visit for a few days.
Not the best idea for a date, but a great fix for a growling stomach when you're out on the town. Not that the school's food isn't great, but sometimes it's nice to have a burger and fries instead.
CONNECTICUT
a short drive can take you to just about any other noteworthy place in the state
Beautiful white sand, gently sloping hills, and sheer cliffs perfect for diving make the beach a nearly irresistable place to visit when you've got time off and the weather is nice. But make sure you watch the waters carefully; you never know what could be lurking beneath the white waves.
Over 200 acres of pure ancient forest and nature museums make this preserve a great place to visit if you want to learn a little about the history of Connecticut. Signs prohibit visitors from straying off the paths through the park, but who pays any attention to those?
Only a half hour from Weston Institute stands Hartford Mall, an hour outside the state's capital city. It has two levels, a cinema, and more stores to poke around in than most people have ever counted, with the best food court around for miles.
Typically used for rock shows and rap concerts, this versatile venue has seen everything from the St. Louis Opera to Pointfest and back again. If a noteworthy concert is scheduled here, the WINGS students will definitely know about it - and probably be first in line, if it's anyone good. The school has their connections.
Visiting parents can hop on the metro and check on their kids during open visitation. Students aren't allowed to leave via train unless they've got written permission from the headmaster of the institute. Facial recognition software as well as school alumni work around the clock to make sure no students slip past and grab a one-way ticket to Anywhere But Here.
Relatives live far enough away they have to fly in? No problem. The airport is located fifteen miles outside of Weston and is small enough to maneuver easily, even for first-timers.
On the rare occassion that something happens the school's nurse can't handle, St. Peter's Hospital is only five miles outside of town and always has a great team of Emergency Room staff on hand to take care of whatever you need.

Welcome to Weston Institute for Naturally Gifted Students, an intermediate, literate roleplay that takes place in the fictional modern-day town of Weston, Connecticut. Weston is just like any other town in America - with one major difference. The Weston Institute isn't just a school, it's home to students with amazing powers and abilities that they strive to control. Each student here was discovered after the development of their powers drew attention to the school's officials. Now kids that felt so out of place in their normal lives feel accepted and normal, even when walking past a girl sprouting wings, or a boy calling up a tornado.
Based on their powers, each new student is sorted into one of the six elemental categories: Lights, who control light waves; Breezes, who control air currents; Anis, who have a very special connection with a type of animal; Drops, who control water; Flames, the more hotheaded ones; and Terras, who are literally one with nature. Everyone's power is different, some simple and some incredibly complex - it all depends on the person.
Coded and edited in Google Chrome, so that's likely your best bet for viewing, though FireFox and Safari users haven't reported any issues so far. Internet Explorer isn't totally compatible with many features WINGS allows, however, and therefore isn't the best option for viewing. We want you to have the best viewing experience possible here, after all! Feel free to take a look around and join the family if you like what you see! Questions and suggestions are more than welcome in the guest-friendly questions and suggestions board; let us know how we can help you!
